After cycling 5628 km through Alaska and Canada, I cycled through the USA as follows: After cycling through the Glacier National Park in Montana, I headed to Great Falls where I rested for 3 days. I then headed south to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming where I met up with my dad, Walter. (He was driving in a rental car but also cycled part of the way, going ahead to book the campsites and buy food. This allowed me to cycle lighter for 3 weeks before he returned to Switzerland on the 08.09.2005).

From there (Wyoming), I headed over numerous passes, crossed the scenic Uinta mountains in northern Utah and then headed south through the hot semi-desert to Moab. From Moab  I cycled to Monument Valley on the Utah/ Arizona border. From there I cycled to the Grand Canyon and then down to Flagstaff. In Flagstaff I did the BIG BIKE SERVICE (all the cogwheels were replaced, new crank bearings, new chains etc etc). I then cycled south over more hills, dropped down into the Sonoran desert and cycled down to the 'Organ Pipes Cactus National Monument' where I also departed the USA and crossed the border into Mexico.
